We’re honoring our farmer-owners on World Milk Day, Saturday, June 1 and throughout the month of June in celebration of National Dairy Month.
As a farmer-owned cooperative, Land O'Lakes is dedicated to Feeding Human Progress. Whether that’s in partnership with our member farmers here in the U.S. or through support for the nonprofit Land O'Lakes International Development and farmers abroad, we celebrate farmers, near and far, for the hard work they do and the impact they have on communities around the world.
Help us celebrate
In celebration of World Milk Day, Saturday, June 1, which aims to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition, we’re donating $15,000 to 4-H. We’re proud to support 4-H to help inspire more young people to do, lead and grow in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement. Go here for more.
Join us on social media to share your thanks for farmers close to home and around the world.
Throughout June, we’ll also share stories with employees and members about exciting new innovations coming out of our Land O’Lakes Dairy Foods business.
More ways to engage
World Milk Day was first launched in 2001 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) to celebrate and increase public awareness about the nutritional and economic importance of milk and milk products around the globe.
Showing your love for the dairy industry, and those who help make it possible, is easy. In addition to Land O’Lakes social media accounts, consider following these, too:
Addressing hunger
Sadly, one in six children in the U.S. struggle with hunger during the summer when they no longer have the structure of free or reduced-price school meal programs. More than 18 million kids won’t know where their next meal will come from. No community is immune from food insecurity.
In June, Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), Feeding America, MilkPEP and checkoff entities, including National Dairy Council, Fuel Up to Play 60 and GENYOUth, will rally our communities to combat childhood hunger.
The “Real Love Convoy” kicks off on June 5 on Good Morning America and will tour the country to drive awareness of childhood hunger and encourage donations to The Great American Milk Drive. State and regional checkoff teams will activate efforts in cities coast to coast through events at farmers markets, school feeding sites and sporting or community events.
