A challenging farm economy, like the one many in agriculture are currently facing, can bring on uncertainty and stress for everyone involved. Keeping personal life and your business in balance can be challenging. Stressful situations can affect your health and ability to focus on what’s important.
The updated Member Assistance Program provided by Land O’Lakes, Inc. through Unum, offers resources to assist our members dealing with difficult circumstances. With our Member Assistance Program, members can call a confidential phone line or go online to get help with several needs, including:
-
Working through sensitive issues such as personal and work relationships as well as mental health.
-
Locating childcare and elder-care services in your area.
-
Obtaining a referral to a local attorney for a free half-hour in-person or phone legal consultation.
Land O’Lakes members can call 1-800-854-1446 24/7 and identify themselves as a Land O’Lakes member to the representative. Or members can go here to utilize their free educational tools and services offered.
If you have questions about the Member Assistance Program, we encourage you to get in touch with your local field staff representative.
What else is Land O’Lakes doing to address mental health in our farming communities?
Our Government Relations team continues to work with lawmakers at the state and federal level to pass legislation that support farmers and rural communities. As part of the upcoming Member Leadership Fly-In, Land O’Lakes member representatives will be advocating for stress assistance programs for farmers and ranchers to address mental health nationwide. The 2018 farm bill provides a key opportunity to provide support and stability in rural America.
As a cooperative, we should all be able to lean on one another during challenging times. If you, or someone you know needs assistance, please utilize the programs available or reach out to your local Land O’Lakes staff representative.
